What Is the Purpose of This Ministry?
The purpose of the Respect-Life Ministry is to promote and defend the sanctity of all human life and family life in our community and around the world according to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church through prayer, service and education.
It is the duty of all Catholics to follow the teachings of the church to protect the unborn, promote end-of-life issues and to follow the church's teaching on abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty and war. Our ministry is very active throughout the year.
When Does This Ministry Meet?
The Respect-Life Ministry meets the first and third Mondays of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Lending Library at the bottom of the stairs in the church.
Who May Volunteer to Help in This Ministry?
All are welcome and needed to help in this ministry. Please come help work for the sanctity of all human life.
At the meetings the committee works on projects such as Billboards for Life, 40 Days for Life, speakers, events, and education for specific life issues.
In addition, there are lots of opportunities to help without attending meetings. People are needed to pray during the monthly Holy Hours for Life in the Adoration Chapel and monthly in front of the Planned Parenthood Office in Indianapolis. Helpers are also needed at different times at the weekend Masses to hand out information, sell silk roses or carnations, engraved bricks etc. The respect-life committee has a booth every year at the parish festival and volunteers are needed behind the table. This committee also maintains the area around Our Lady's Healing Garden. Each spring and summer help is needed to plant flowers, water and weed the area.

Cenacles For Life
Every Wednesday after the 5:45 p.m. Mass at Our Lady of the Greenwood Chapel, we say two Rosaries to petition our Lord through the intercession of His Blessed Mother for the end of abortion, euthanasia, embryonic stem cell research, cloning and assisted suicide. Prayer is our greatest weapon! What a simple way to be a part of the solution!
