Finance Council

Mission Statement

The mission of the Finance Council is to provide information and guidance to the Parish Council and pastor with regard to financial matters of the parish.

Purpose of the Finance Council

The Finance Committee is to:

• Oversee the preparation and submission of the parish budget to the Parish Council.
• Recommend banking arrangements, capital expenditures, and contracts.
• Assist the Pastor in monetary matters affecting the parish.
• Sees that parishioners are provided with periodic reports from the business office on the parish financial conditions.

When Are Finance Council Meetings?

Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of each month (except for June, July, October and December) at 7:00 p.m. and include agenda items such as:

• Preparation and submission of parish budget to Parish Council,
• Review and analysis of monthly financial statements of Parish and School,
• Capital expenditures for facilities,
• Financial matters of parish organizations, and
• Oversight and guidance on banking and contractual matters of parish.

The meetings are approximately two hours long. Time required to serve on this committee adds up to 2-4 hours of additional time each month.

Membership

Members of the Finance Committee are appointed by the pastor. They serve on the Finance Committee for six years.

The Finance Committee consists of:

• The Pastor,
• The Business Manager, and
• At a minimum, six members from the congregation.
