What is This Ministry About?Sunday Morning Religious Education (SMRE) classes are held in Our Lady of the Greenwood School each Sunday morning during the regular school year. Classes are held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 a.m. We encourage the parents to attend the 10:30 a.m. Sunday Mass service with their children right after class is dismissed. The SMRE curriculum is very structured following the same scope and sequence as used in the Catholic school curriculum. The children in the SMRE classes are also prepared for the reception of the sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion. How Can One Become Involved in This Ministry?Anyone can become involved in volunteering for this rewarding ministry. The volunteers needed are 35-40 catechists/aides. Catechists need a good knowledge of the Faith as well as the ability to relate to a particular age group, while aides need the desire to grow and learn at the side of an experienced catechist, requiring one hour on Sunday morning and preparation time during the week. Office assistants (teens welcome) need to commit to one hour on Sunday mornings to help with various duties during class time.
