PurposeThe purpose of this policy is to establish guidelines for reviewing fundraisers and fundraising activities proposed by:
A "Church group" means a committee, task force, church affiliated organization, or other such internal Church group of Our Lady of the Greenwood. The purpose of reviewing fundraising activities is to ensure that they are consistent with our not-for-profit status; to avoid overburdening parishioners with requests for money; and to ensure that the resources of the Church are focused on the highest priority needs and consistent with the approved Church budget. ScopeAll fundraising activities conducted by any groups at or within Our Lady of the Greenwood must be reviewed and approved under this policy. Review ProcessAll fundraising activities must be reviewed in advance by the Stewardship Committee. For Ministries, the Ministry head needs to submit their fundraising application to the Stewardship Committee, with a cc (carbon copy) to the appropriate commission head. Any group or individual must submit a Fund Raising Application Form for approval on behalf of the group seeking to engage in fundraising activity. The Stewardship Committee will review applications for fundraising activities and approve using guidelines provided. The Stewardship Committee will provide a monthly report to Parish Council of all such requests. NotificationThe Stewardship Committee will notify the commission head and church member/ministry representative whether their fund raising activity has been approved and negotiate on a date, time and location, if needed. If application is denied, written notification will be sent to the church member/ministry representative (with cc/carbon copy to commission head) with reason for denial. Appeal Process may be made through Parish Council. EnvelopesNo envelopes will be approved for fundraising, except for the Special Collections approved by the Mission Office in the Archdiocese. Fundraising envelopes already existing, St. Vincent de Paul & 50/50 Club will be "grandfathered." A Second Collection is taken for Vocations in the Spring.
